Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Arcade Game Remake
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a 1985 arcade action game where players control Indiana Jones to rescue children and retrieve the Sankara Stones from the Thuggee cult. Gameplay consists of three main stages repeated in cycles: a maze-like mine level to free children, a minecart chase, and a temple level to grab a Sankara Stone. The game features an eight-directional joystick and a single button for Indy's whip, which is used for attacking enemies, swinging across gaps, and opening cages.
Gameplay breakdown
Mines: Navigate a platform-based mine by climbing ladders, using conveyor belts, and swinging across gaps to find and release captive children. You must avoid guards, snakes, and other hazards.
Minecart: Ride in a minecart through a dangerous track, avoiding obstacles like broken rails, dead ends, and enemy carts. The goal is to reach the end of the track by tilting the cart and using the whip to brake or destroy enemies.
Temple: Infiltrate the temple to reach an altar and retrieve a Sankara Stone, while fending off attacks from guards, bats, and other enemies.
Final Confrontation: After several cycles, the Sankara Stone level is replaced with a final showdown on a rope bridge with the cult leader Mola Ram.
Game structure
Levels: The game is broken down into repeating cycles of the three stages.
Progression: With each cycle, the difficulty increases. After the third cycle, the final confrontation with Mola Ram on the rope bridge occurs.
Lives and hazards: Players lose a life if they are hit by an enemy, fall from a great height, crash the minecart, or fall into lava.
Difficulty: Players can choose from three difficulty levels at the start, which influences the number of hazards.
